Stanley Cup Championship |
Nick Boynton
Nick Boynton, born January 14, 1979, played minor hockey with Nobleton minor hockey and worked his way up to Peewee Triple 'A' playing for the Vaughan Kings. When he was 19 he was diagnosed as a diabetic, which he never let effect his dream of winning the Stanley Cup. In 1997 Nick was drafted by the Washington Capitals, however he didn't join the team and re-entered into the draft two years later allowing for the Boston Bruins to take him that fall. Nick played six seasons with the Bruins before he jumped around to the Phoenix Coyotes in 2006, the Florida Panthers in 2008 and the Anaheim Ducks in 2009. Nick was then traded to the Chicago Black Hawks for future consideration on March 2, 2010.

At the time Chicago was looking for veteran defense men because Bryan Campbell was injured, so Nick Boynton got the spot in the line-up. He played 7 regular season games and games 4, 5, and 6 of the Stanley Cup Championship, making him the first King Township resident to win the Stanley Cup in 2010.
